ANTI-DENGUE PROGRAM

Today is 29th February of 2020. As members of Rotract Club of SLIIT , we had to do our first project regarding Dengue. First of all we gathered to SLIIT sharp at 8:00 a.m.
So, I went there at 7:20 a.m. as my first rule is Punctuality. At about 8:15 we were left to Walgama Municipal Council and  met the Public Health Inspector, Mr: C.S. Indipolage who conducted the session. He told us there are 4 types of Dengue mosquito species and that caused too many deads in all over Sri Lanka. This mosquito can resist eventually to the antibiotics as his DNAs can change rapidly.

Then our 16 member group divided in to 8 sub groups and each of them contains with  2 members. They gave 1 Dengue Control Unit(DCU) member for each sub group
and with them, we had to go to a certain route and visit every house on that route and find any kind of places which can be a birthplace for another thousands of mosquitoes. Then we had to give them warnings to take immediate actions. My team went 20 houses within the time frame. We filled a detailed report sheet but I forgot to take a snapshot.

Finally, we submitted it to Mr: C.S. Indipolage at about 12:15 p.m. and came back to home. I saw the faces of the people, when we said, "We are from DCU and we are checking your surrounding." They were scared. But they shouldn't. Because, they don't have to do master projects. They only thing they have to do is cleaning the surrounding. It's not that hard. If they did it before DCU members come to visit their places, they don't have to get scared. However, we should clean our surroundings, in order to prevent from Dengue. This was a great experience and wonderful day for us.

------THANKS ROTRACT FOR GIVING A CHANCE TO GET THIS EXPERIENCE-----
